Tuesday Tips...Food isn't just for eating!

Food isn’t always just for eating

Lemons
- A while back, Tamaria wrote a post about cleaning with lemons (http://spicyauthors.blogspot.co.uk/2013/03/tuesday-tipscleaning-with-lemons.html?zx=b0e10388f95dcbc1) I thought it would be fun to look at what other unusual things we could do with food.
- Lemons can also be used as a bleaching agent to make your whites whiter.

Cucumber

- If you want a cheap and easy way to pamper yourself, cucumber can do more than just cool tired and puffed up eyes. Cut up some cucumber in a bowl with boiling water, and the nutrients will be released in the steam, not only cleansing your skin, but relaxing you as well.
- Lessen the appearance of cellulite by rubbing a few slices on the problem area.
- Run out of shoe polish? Rubbing a few slices of cucumber on your shoes will bring out the shine in no time.
- Also great to remove tarnish from stainless steel

Olive oil
- Great as a moisturizer for your skin
- You can use it to condition and tame your hair, just rub into your hair and leave to soak in, and then wash as usual.
- Healthy to use around the house as a polish, and to silence squeaky door hinges.

Tea
- You can use freshly brewed tea to clean wood furniture and floors.
- Use peppermint tea with a pinch of salt as a mouthwash. Peppermint is a natural antiseptic and will help soothe sore gums.
- Use tea leaves to give your roses a boost by sprinkling all around the base and then covering with soil, next time you water them the nutrients will be released and will help them to grow.
