Signed, sealed, delivered

Last week I signed a contract for Never Say Never, Book 2 in the Price of Fame Series with Beachwalk Press. It was immediately shoved in the envelope and sent by Air Mail to the States. I think it’s slotted in for release late spring/early summer.  

So, what is The Price of Fame Series?

The series isn't necessarily linked by Do You Have What it Takes? What links all the characters throughout the series is how each of them has been hurt in some way by fame.

Book 1, The Monster of Fame (which, by the way, is now available at Coffee Time Romance and there’s 20% off!), is set on the reality singing competition Do You Have What it Takes? similar to Xfactor and American Idol. It follows one of the celebrity judges, Miles Oliver, and one of the contestants on an opposing team, Annabelle MacIntosh’s rocky romance.  My local paper did an article on the book last week which I was excited about, but a little embarrassed too.  

Never Say Never isn’t set during the show, but it does feature another of the judges, Sander Chase. Here’s what it's about.  

Sander Chase is a man used to getting what he wants. What he wants is Chloe Butler on his arm at his ex-fiancé’s engagement party and the bribe he offers means victory is sure. But Sander doesn’t have time for a woman in his life. He figures he can manage to keep his hands off Chloe despite the unexpected attraction between them, especially when he finds out she has enough baggage to fill an aeroplane.

After losing her dream job, her movie star ex and finding out her mum has dementia, Chloe Butler returned to London determined to put her life back together. The last thing she needs is to parade around London on the arm of a class A celebrity, and she swore after Dane she’d never get involved with someone in the spotlight again. Sander offers her the chance to get what she needs to start her new life and it’s not something she can turn down.

Ignoring the insane chemistry between them should be easy, but the more time she spends with Sander the more she learns he’s nothing like her scumbag ex. Torn between wanting him and needing to keep her heart safe, Chloe struggles to fight her body’s reactions to him and his advances. But when she gets to know some of the man beneath, her resolve crumbles. With their separation closing in, all Chloe can hope for is to protect her heart, if only her determination is enough.  

Now off to get started on Book 3. Fingers crossed my lucky streak holds :)

The Next Big Thing!

Not sure if I’m tempting fate calling the next book in The Price of Fame series a big thing (it has yet to be signed). Still, I love Never Say Never and I’ve just finished it, so it’s fresh in my mind.  

The lovely J.M. Stewart, Susie Medwell, Incy Black and Lindsay J. Pryor tagged me so I thought I better actually do it ;). I have to answer some questions about a current WIP or story due to be released and tag three other poor sods (babes beware!). 

What is the title of your latest book?

Never Say Never, Book 2 (hopefully) in The Price of Fame Series 

Where did the idea come from for the book?

Sander Chase, the hero, is a judge on the reality singing contest Do You Have What it Takes? in The Monster of Fame. I got curious about who he was when I wrote TMOF, so I did a character bio, and his story sort of grew from there. 

What genre does your book fall under?

Contemporary Romance (on the steamy side, mind you!)

What actors would you choose to play the part of your characters in a movie rendition?

Now, he doesn’t do it for me, but this is how I picture Sander…

And as for Chloe...

 

What is the one sentence synopsis of your book?
He needs a fake date, she needs a job, neither realise the spark between them will be so hard to ignore. 

Is your book self-published or represented by an agency?

Hopefully it will sell to Beachwalk Press. *crosses everything*

How long did it take you to write the first draft of the manuscript?

Hahaha. Let’s just say far too long.

What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?

Hmmm, I’m not sure. How about the first one, The Monster of Fame? Cheating? :) 

Who or what inspired you to write this book?

A whole heap of things. I’m a celebrity magazine junkie and eat up all the stories of the famous and unfortunate. Sander and Chloe are a whole compilation of things I’ve read about. 

What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?

Chloe lived in LA, dated a movie star, but she was his dirty little secret. She came back to the UK when her mum was diagnosed with dementia. 

Sander moved to the UK with his fiancé, who dumped him for his band mate. He’s forced back into the group and needs a fake date to take to their engagement party. But his family life is messy and Sander has a few secrets he can’t let anyone know.
