Cartoon Hero

Woohoo, we reached Friday again!

On Monday it's back to school for the children, and back to writing for me. I do try to write during holidays, but with a curious six year old, sometimes it's a little tricky. Also it's nice to take time out and spend time with them.

We've had plenty of rainy days over Easter break, so some afternoons have been taken over by the world of Disney and Pixar. Which really isn't a bad thing. Cartoons have changed a great deal over the years and are more gender friendly and realistic to the world we live in today. They aren't all about the Princess getting rescued by the handsome Prince anymore.
Step forward Mr Flynn Rider...

Okay I'm not going to lie. I always had a thing for Wolverine and Spiderman. Even Captain Caveman was a woman's dream with the ultimate accessory of his limitless club. But todays characters are able to rescue themselves, regardless of gender. Heroes and heroines can have their flaws, and that's okay. After all - who doesn't love a bad boy? A bad boy, or girl, with a chance at redemption - even better!

These few weeks I've spent a lot of time watching Frozen. And really I have to call it research. There's a misunderstood heroine, good versus evil, and of course there has to be romance! It's a lesson in not ignoring secondary characters. Because Olaf, you adorable snowman - you totally got the best line. Some people really are worth melting for ;-)

Who's your cartoon hero?
Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

  1. I'm crazy about Tangled and love the dynamic between Flynn Ryder and Rupuntzel. They're both endearing.

  2. Scooby Doo, because food is a great motivator and saying Voltron is just silly probably.
