Let There Be Love!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Have you received a beautiful card or wonderful gift today? Have you given them? Or, does it really matter?

I have to say I am a romantic person. As an author it's in my job description. After all love for your partner, your family, friends, career, hobby, or even your favourite meal makes life worth while doesn't it? In the past I have written poems for my husband, cooked meals, made him cards, given him gifts. But is my husband romantic? Not. One. Bit.

This isn't as bad as it sounds. Yes he is terrible at remembering special dates, nods when I talk even though I know he isn't listening, and if I ask him 'Does my bum look big in this?' he will answer with the truth. He doesn't spoil me with Valentine's gifts, but honestly I don't need them. I know he loves me. It really is the small things. Without asking if I need one he makes me a cup of tea every morning, when I've had a bad day he will hand over chocolate. But the most thoughtful thing he does is when he wakes he will cover me over. Sure he hogged the duvet in the first place, but he will cover me up and gently kiss me on my cheek. To me that says everything.

It really isn't about the expensive gift, but it is all about the love. I don't get romanced but I get that elsewhere. It's in the world I write, between my hero and heroine. I get it from movies, books and those heartwarming proposal stories.
