Holiday Recipes: Stephanie Beck's Oreo Torte

By no means is this a *new* recipe, but a few touches have made it one of our favorite treats. To make it even more fun, you can switch up your oreos. Use different flavors as they come out seasonally, and add a little extra fun to your treat. For fall, try the candy corn flavor—or even use orange! A little color is always fun.

Ingredients
1 package of Oreos (you will have a few extra)
2 sticks of unsalted butter (you will have extra)
1 Pint carton of heavy whipping cream (plenty left over for fresh whipped cream)
1-10oz package semisweet chocolate (or dark if you like it)

Crust
Step 1: Take 2 rows of Oreos and crush them in a zipper bag (or food process them) Try different flavors and style to correlate with the season.
Step 2: Press crumbs in the bottom of a pan (8x8 works fine-but you can go fancier if you want)
Step 3: Pour 1/2 cup melted butter over the cookie crumbs.
Place crust in the Freezer

Special Notes
Will be fine after 3 hours.
Will be AMAZING after 24 hours.
Fresh whipped cream makes this even better.
Got book club coming up? Friends coming over? This one will wow them :)

Filling
Step 1: pour 1/2 cup of cream in sauce pan. Heat to light boil, watching carefully.
Step 2: Remove from heat.
Step 3: Add 7 oz of chocolate and 1/4 cup of butter (small cubes melts faster).
Step 4: Stir constantly until chocolate and butter are melted into cream.
Step 5: Remove crust from freezer and pour the filling mixture over it.
Step 5: Add your chocolate chip sprinkles or nuts or Oreos now for decoration
Step 6: Return to freezer for at least 2 hours.

About Stephanie Beck

Even before she understood what all the thrusting meant, Stephanie Beck loved reading romance. When the stories didn't end the way she wanted, writing her own was the perfect solution. From ridiculous humor to erotica, Stephanie loves being transported within a story. When she's not elbow deep in words, her husband and three children command her attention. After they are sleeping she knits or bakes cookies…or squeezes in more writing.
