Price drop! Arranged Love by Lacey Wolfe

Arranged Love is now only $3.50 ---- all the time! This is a really great book and I had so much fun writing this couple. There is some humor tossed in with some spicy romance, but not too spicy.

They think they’re fooling their parents, but really, the joke’s on them.

Kayla Ames’s parents could win an award in meddling. Every time she turns around, they’re setting her up with someone new. Try as she might, she can’t convince them to butt out of her love life.

Ryan Newell isn’t looking for love. After having his heart torn to shreds by his ex, he’s determined to never again fall in love and leave himself that vulnerable to being hurt. His parents, however, believe he just needs some help finding the right woman, and their friends’ daughter, Kayla, might be a perfect match.

Realizing they both have the same problem—parents who won’t stop nagging them about finding a partner—Ryan and Kayla agree to an arrangement of sorts. All they have to do is pretend to date, and they don’t even have to see each other, they can discuss the details of their “dates” via email. But then the email conversations lead to real dates, and Kayla finds herself struggling to keep her feelings for Ryan in check as he’s made it clear love will not enter into the equation for him. Then Kayla’s parents suddenly announce they’re getting a divorce, and she begins to wonder if maybe Ryan has the right idea.

When it all gets to be too much for Kayla, she has a hard decision to make—agree to stay with Ryan and never experience love, or walk away for her chance to find it.

Wanted: Wife is on sale for 99 cents this whole month of January

Wanted: Wife is a favorite story of mine. When I originally wrote the story, it was roughly 7000 words long. It went into a Valentine's Anthology, that later the small press went under. I got the story back. I'm not one to publish many short stories, but I loved this story so much. Plus I really felt like the two main characters had a much bigger story to tell then they did for the short story. So I began rewrites and the much longer story was born at just under 50,000 words.

In February 2014, Wanted: Wife won an award at the Tasty Authors Conference for best blue collar hero! I was so honored that one of my favorite stories won an award.

What's this story all about?

Help Wanted: A Wife

Darcy White can't believe she's answering a help wanted ad from someone looking to hire a wife, but she's hit rock bottom and is on the verge of being evicted from her apartment. When she learns that the guy she had a crush on in high school is the one looking to hire, she'd be crazy not to live out her fantasy.

Steven McDonald needs a wife, or at least a fiancée, before his grandfather retires or else he won't inherit the family business. He knows not just any woman will do, and in a desperate attempt to find a solution, he places a help wanted ad in the local paper. The day Darcy White answers it, his dreams begin to come true.

As Darcy and Steven pretend they're engaged, they make a promise to keep things platonic. But the more time they spend together, the harder it is to keep their hands off one another. With his grandfather's retirement approaching, and the possible end to their fake engagement, can Steven and Darcy admit their feelings to not only themselves but each other?

Tantalizing Tuesday - Sunny's Hope by Nola Cross

Today we've got a snippet from Nola Cross's latest release - Sunny's Hope.
***

When Sunny returned to the bed, she saw Ben had turned on to his back. She crawled in facing him, but was barely able to make out his profile in the dim room. Snuggling up close, she let her gaze drift over the strong line of his nose, his firm lips and chin. His light-colored hair, mussed with sleep, stuck up in endearing wisps from his scalp.

You must have been a darling little boy.

An unexpected wave of tenderness washed over her, and it was all she could do not to reach out and stroke his cheek. The stress and pain of the last two days had torn them apart in some ways, but now she could see that it had woven them more closely together in other ways. They’d come through something terrible, and their relationship had survived, seemed to have gotten stronger even, surpassing sexual attraction and simple friendship, and promising something more complex and enduring.

Of course, Jasmine’s road to recovery still lay ahead. No doubt that would put a strain on many areas of both their lives. Anxious questions tumbled through her head. How long before her daughter came fully awake? Would she be impaired, and if so, how badly? Would she ever be completely normal again?

Would Ben get tired of her need to focus on her daughter’s care? And if Sunny was fully involved in Jasmine’s therapies, her recovery, would she have any emotional energy left for a love life with Ben?

She sighed, suddenly overwhelmed and sad. Things had looked so promising for them. She longed to go back in time to that afternoon at the snow park when he’d pulled her close and kissed her with such heated passion.

“See anything you like?” Ben’s voice was a quiet rumble in the dark.

Sunny gave a squawk of surprise. “You were awake all this time?”

“I woke up when you left the bed. I guess I’m not used to people coming and going at all hours.”

“I would hope not.”

A few seconds went by.

“I’d like to get used to it, Sunny.” He rolled on his side so they were facing each other. She felt his fingers graze the side of her face. Even though she couldn’t see him clearly, she guessed there was a mischievous light dancing in his blue eyes.

“What are you saying, Ben?”

“Only that it feels right to have you here beside me.”

“Oh. Yes.”

They were silent. Sunny tried to pry her mind open far enough to consider the implications of his statement. She couldn’t begin to field all the questions that arose. On top of all the unknowns surrounding Jasmine’s health, it was just too much. Too soon.

“I can’t think about that right now,” she finally said.

“That’s all right. There’s no rush. I’m not going anywhere.”

The quiet promise in his words brought unexpected tears to her eyes. Wasn’t this guy almost too good to be true? His quiet reassurance filled her with a renewed sense of hope. With Ben as her champion, she could go forward. Together they could face anything.

“Ben?”

“Hmm?”

“Will you make love to me?”

“What about your neck?”

“We can be careful.”

“Are you sure? I don’t want to hurt you.”

“I’ll let you know if I’m uncomfortable.”

“Come here then,” he whispered, and pulled her close.

In the dark, his lips found hers, moving gently but with purpose on her mouth, and his hand coasted slowly down her body and back up again, finding her breast.

“Yes,” she murmured as he caressed her flesh, through the soft layer of flannel at first and then with her top pushed up. His hand was warm, possessive, arousing and soothing at the same time. Eventually her sensitive nipples responded, pebbling against his palm, and she couldn’t stop the low moan that curled in her throat.

“You like that?” He pressed a kiss to her hairline as his hand continued its explorations. Soft pinches and tugs made her squirm with pleasure.

“Mmm. Yes. Don’t ever stop.”

Tantalizing Tuesday - Can't Let You Go by Sidda Lee Tate

Lynette scooted next to Ty so their arms touched. She pointed to Polaris with her opposite hand. “Ursa Minor is the easiest to find. It comes straight off the North Star, forming what looks like a handle with two more.” She traced her finger through the air. “See the box the next four stars make?”
When he didn’t answer she felt the weight of his stare on her, heady, consuming. Shivers zipped along her skin, and she brought her arm down to her side and met his gaze.
“I was trying to show you the Little Dipper.”
“And I was watching your lips move while you did.”
“Why?” she asked softly. They were inches apart and the closeness stimulated the exhilaration she felt when he kissed her. Thank goodness she was lying in the sand, otherwise her knees would have given out and she’d be nothing put a crumpled mess at his feet.
“Because your mouth is more interesting.”
“Oh.” Her heart slammed against her chest, pulsed in the back of her throat. “I wanted to help you remember.”
The corner of Ty’s lips twitched, and his eyes narrowed a bit. He rotated his gaze to the sky and threaded his fingers through hers. “What if I don’t want to remember? What if I told you dredging up memories isn’t a good thing? That I’m better off without them.”
She stared at him for a few seconds, considered pushing him for more, but noticed the fracture of his guarded wall closing fast. She had to lighten the mood, or risk losing him completely. Before Lynette even realized what she was doing, she swung her leg around his waist and sat with her knees in the sand, straddling the most beautiful man she’d ever seen. His eyes went wide, and she laughed to conceal her own surprise.
“I’d say you need to make new memories, Officer Sellers.”
His green orbs turned heated. They fixed on her lips for a few seconds then slowly lowered to examine her bra-and-panty clad body. Not exactly what she expected with her attempt to change the vibe, but she’d take this for sure. He lifted his hands to her shoulders and ran the backs of his fingers the length of her arms, sending vibrations dancing through her veins. She stopped breathing when he reached her wrists. The desire to feel his touch on every inch of her skin conquered her thoughts when his attention went to her thighs. He ran his fingertips up and up until he gripped her waist. A light squeeze of his strong hands made her gasp.
“Come here,” he muttered, voice low and throaty, eyes hooded.
Her center clenched, her mind focused on nothing but the feel of his touch, the frenzied look in his eyes, how they conflicted with the sternness of his jaw, the softness in his hands. Lynette leaned forward, hovered inches from him with her palms buried in the sand. “Like this?” she asked in a whisper, the prevailing need to please him consuming her.
Ty slowly nodded, his chest heaving. “Exactly like this.”
He searched her face, flashed a faint smile, and grabbed a handful of her wet hair, bringing her mouth to his. His tongue dove between her lips and tangled with hers, frantic, needy. He pressed between her shoulder blades, forcing her to collapse against him. Skin to skin, both of them groaned at the contact.

Tantalizing Tuesday - Delayed Justice by Constance Bretes

It's Tantalizing Tuesday and today we've got an excerpt from Delayed Justice by Constance Bretes.

****

She headed to the kitchen to put some water in the kettle to make tea, but Makeeta grabbed her arm and pulled her into his arms. He brought his head down and kissed her. He crushed her to him, and as his tongue traced her lips, she responded earnestly to his kiss. She was shocked that she responded so readily to him and she gave herself freely to the passion of his kiss. She wrapped her arms around his neck. His hands drew her in tightly against him as he gently rubbed up and down her back.
Sami pulled away from him. “Please, stop.”
“What’s wrong?” Makeeta asked softly.
“We shouldn’t do this. I mean...I...um, I’ve got some pretty ugly scars on my back and my legs.”
“So?” Makeeta whispered. Sami held her head down, and Makeeta placed a finger under her chin and lifted her face up until their eyes met. “Scars don’t bother me, Sami, you should know that by now.”
He gently pulled her back into his embrace, and after a few minutes, he started kissing her again. His lips trailed her jawline, and he planted a tantalizing kiss in the hollow of her neck. He released her hair from its clip, and it cascaded down her back. His hands found the bottom of her sweater, and he slipped them under it, touching her skin. The touch was so sensual it set off a barrage of fireworks inside her. His hands were at her waist, and slowly, gently, he caressed her back. He stopped kissing her and looked deeply into her eyes.
He splayed his hands and lifted the sweater up and over her head and tossed it on a chair. His hands went to her back, slightly caressing her scarred skin, setting her on fire. He unhooked her bra and swiftly tossed it aside. His hands then explored her breasts. The touch on her nipples sent off more sparks of pleasure. Bending his head, he started kissing each breast. Her nipples hardened under his ministrations, and it sent new spirals of ecstasy through her. He came back up to kiss her on her mouth again, and she started fumbling with the buttons on his shirt When she got his shirt unbuttoned and slid it off his shoulders, she marveled at his beautiful chest, muscular and masculine.
Sami looked at him admirably. “You are like a bronze sculpture. So beautiful.”
“Mmm, I’m thinking you’re quite beautiful yourself.”
He guided her into the bedroom.

Tantalizing Tuesday - The Baby Contract by Olivia Starke

Welcome to Tantalizing Tuesday! Today we've got a teaser from Olivia Starke's next release (due out in less than a week) The Baby Contract.

***

A drawer opened, and several seconds passed before she heard his masculine purr. Curious, she turned and he held up her pink nightie, looking it over. Her stomach dropped to her feet.
“Nice,” he said. “I imagine you’ll look incredible in this. And equally incredible coming out of it.”
When he looked her way, his gaze pinned her to the spot even though instinct told her to flee from her mortification. He let the nightie drop into the drawer. He walked over to her, stopping too close, invading her craved personal space. His cologne enveloped her, stealing her breath. No, not his cologne, it was his bearing that held all the power in the moment—tall, strong, virile male, the epitome of confidence and testosterone. She stared at his mouth, his lips slightly full, softer looking than she expected, inviting wandering ideas of how his kiss would feel. If he’d be gentle, or if he would just take her with that mouth. Take her over and over and over…
She swallowed and realized she’d been holding her breath. He’ll be efficient. She repeated the mantra in her mind as if it’d help ground her. Imagining him as a wild and wanton lover was entirely too much to handle.
He lifted his hand to her cheek, but his fingertips didn’t quite meet her skin. Needle pricks of desire tingled beneath his near-touch. Enough to make her nipples bud and her pussy tighten. The room started a slow spin and she pressed against the cold glass behind her, needing its support. Liam’s tongue darted out, stroking over his top lip. She imagined it doing the same thing over her clit.
“Tell me, Abigail,” he began. He braced his hands against the window on each side of her. Beneath the deep rumble of his voice hid an erotic promise she couldn’t even begin to fathom. “What kind of woman are you?”
Abby searched her scrambled brain for an answer and came up empty. She squeezed her eyes shut, but blocking him out was impossible. “Mr. Whitmore,” she managed. She cleared her throat and opened her eyes, focusing on his tiepin. “I don’t understand.”
He made a low, growling sound in his throat. “Mr. Whitmore? Not that the formality couldn’t be kinky during the right times, but I’d prefer if you’d call me Liam.”

COMING - JULY 21, 2014

A bold new look for Grading on Curves & 50% off at All Romance today!

There's great stuff to share today. First off, I just found out All Romance is welcoming summer with a one day only sale. They've dropped the prices on select Beachwalk titles by 50%! My Friends and Lovers is one of those discounted TODAY ONLY. This is a great time to load up your Kindle or Nook and give a new to you author a try. So take Beachwalk to the beach this summer and save 50% with All Romance.

Now for my other news. You may or may not know that Amazon has been cracking down on risque book covers. Hearing this, I figured it was only a matter of time before they focused in on my original Grading on Curves cover. Well, it happened. They slapped an adult filter on it which meant it no longer showed up on casual contemporary romance searches. Even worse, it wasn't included on my roster of titles either. I checked. A customer would have to follow a direct link or specifically search for it before it showed up. This was an unfortunate ruling because Grading on Curves is a lovely story about a divorced mom finding love again with the sexy science teacher at her son's school. It's both touching and realistic to watch these two fall in love - and yes, it's sensual and sexy too, but certainly didn't merit an adult warning just to view the book.

I still liked the concept of the classroom for the cover, along with the science hints on the chalkboard, but clearly the curvy woman's silhouette had to go. They left us no choice. So we mulled it over and came up with a fun and flirty compromise. This image suits the story beautifully since Mia dresses in jeans when she's out with Curt and there's a scene where he gently chides her for wearing heels when she stumbles backwards into him at a bookstore.

I rather like this new cover. Hope you like it too.

One-on-one instruction never felt so right—or so wrong.

There’s nothing unusual about Mia Page’s attraction to the young science teacher at the middle school. After all, she’s not the only one who finds him enticing. But when he pulls her son aside to ask for her phone number, she knows she’s in serious trouble. Since her divorce four years earlier, she’s been out of circulation, choosing to focus on parenting instead, and she’s not entirely sure she can handle an entanglement with the sexy Mr. Walden.

There are also other reasons why getting involved with Curt would be a bad idea. He’s two years shy of thirty, and she’s on the downside of that unmentionable number. He’s adamant about never having kids, and she has a son. Even the guy’s romantic gifts are suspect. Energy saving light bulbs? He has to be kidding.

On the other hand, he’s fun, sweet, and smart. He stimulates her intellectually, emotionally, and Lord help her, physically, opening her eyes to life outside her comfortable world. Yet their differences quietly gnaw at Mia even while she succumbs to their undeniable chemistry.

As their romance deepens, so do Mia’s fears that Curt will eventually hurt her. On edge, all it takes is an innocent comment to provoke her into drawing first blood. Mia recklessly wounds Curt, learning only too late that this blade cuts both ways. Frantic to make amends, she fears it might be too late to admit the feelings she’s tried so hard to suppress.

Looking for Love

Hi, I'm Tara Mills and I'm a shy introvert with sexy tastes. I'm a bookish girl. I love to read them and love to write them. What I don't enjoy is stepping into the limelight and singing for attention. It's hard for me. I would love it if my books got more attention without forcing me out of my shell. Unfortunately, that can't and won't happen. So, I'm stepping outside my comfort zone and putting on my game face.

The truth is, there are a lot of authors out there, and more releases coming daily. It's hard to make a noticeable splash in a rainstorm over an ocean. There's noise, commotion, and raindrops fall so fast they tend to blur into one curtain of gray.

As a reader, I know how daunting it can be to find the right authors for you. I understand the challenges of locating stories that will make a deep impression on you and remain long after you've set the book aside. The kinds of stories you'll reach for again and again. Somehow this particular author connected with you. Or that story touched you, or entertained you in a significant way.

Writers love it when you read and enjoy our work. We greatly appreciate it when you write warm reviews. You've made our day when we hear you've recommended us, or something we've written, to others. And yes, even shy authors love to connect with their readers. We want to hear from you. Tell us how much you loved our book(s).

Most of us have author pages on Facebook so if you are on Facebook, like their pages. And yes, say hello. We're more than happy to return the greeting. Our author pages aren't simply for promotion and getting word out on our latest news. It's where we hope to connect with you, our readers.

Let me invite you to my Facebook page. I hope to see you there. Tara Mills

Tantalizing Tuesday-Caution: Filling is Hot by Tara Mills

Some men should come with a warning.

Welcome to another Tantalizing Tuesday. Allow me to turn up the heat with a sexy excerpt and hopefully leave you hungry for more. This is from my next release, Caution: Filling is Hot, coming out on March 17th with Beachwalk Press. Enjoy.

Sneak Peek:

“Listen, I should have thanked you for tonight. I had a nice time.” Piper’s lame attempt at defusing the tension was obvious.
Chad nodded, his heavenly eyes considering her thoughtfully.
Nervous perspiration started to trickle out of her pores. “And you have two really great kids. Say goodnight for me, would you?”
He nodded again. “Why are you running, Piper?” His voice was so soft, so low it was almost a whisper. He leaned closer, forcing her to look up at him.
Her eyes darted to the right when she tried to deny it. “I’m not.”
“Oh, that was convincing.” He chuckled. “Can we cut the bullshit? You do something to me. Clearly, I’m affecting you. I think we owe it to ourselves to explore it—together.”
Piper couldn’t formulate a single coherent thought when he was practically touching her, crowding her like this. Chad was much too close, too warm. Way too appealing. The intoxicating smell of him insinuated itself into her nose like a drug and pumped her already careening blood flow even faster through her body.
His control astounded her. There she was practically firing flames from her fingertips, and he was the definition of cool. She held her breath when he slowly tipped her chin up then lowered his mouth to hers. Piper found herself responding, unable to do anything else. When he eased back his eyes still held hers, a captured thing. She only had time enough for one quick intake of air before he dove again and swallowed the breath right out of her.
This kiss was harder, more demanding, and Piper rode the curve of the car like a chamois cloth as he bent her backward. Chad’s body molded itself to hers, pressed tight while his fingers combed through her hair. When he finally moved back, he brought Piper with him, returning her to an upright position. Her legs buckled.
“Whoa there,” he said, catching her.
He pulled her door open and Piper dropped weakly onto the seat and stared up at him with dazed eyes.
“Where are your keys?” Chad’s question barely penetrated her mental fog.
Piper pulled them from her purse and started the engine.
Chad watched her, concern etched on his face. “Hey, are you going to be okay?”
She nodded, completely rattled and not entirely sure what he just asked.
“Open your window. I think you need the air.” He smiled and closed the door for her.
Piper lowered the glass and looked up at him, her fog of confusion beginning to clear.
He leaned in. “Be safe. I’ll call you.”
“Okay,” she mumbled.

Piper stared in confusion at her steering wheel. She’d lost her marbles! Where the hell was she going again? Oh right, home, she needed to get home. She hoped she could find her way back from here. She couldn’t believe how he’d completely rearranged her gray matter with a kiss.

Blurb:

Here’s a recipe to share with friends. Take one prickly demonstration cook, handle carefully. Add one lonely widower, slightly beaten. Mix gently. Fold in two six-year-olds, one at a time to temper the batter and avoid scrambling. Then finally, add the mother with an agenda—but just a dash because she’s spicy. Whip into stiff peaks then spread over an ungreased sheet for best results. Method of cooking can vary, however--Caution: Filling is Hot.

Piper Frost is taking a break from men when contractor Chad Thomas crashes her cooking class and turns on the charm. His persistence annoys her but she’s already melting, even without his sneaky mother and conspiring twins in the mix. But just when things are really starting to sizzle, disaster strikes. Can Piper save her recipe for happily ever after or is it already ruined? Grab your oven mitts and find out.

Tantalizing Tuesday ~ Hijacked

Hi! I'm so happy to be visiting here today. I've brought along an excerpt of Hijacked, the second novella in The Night Series. This is one of my favorite scenes- chocolate pie, coffee, and a hot guy.

The waitress delivered her coffee and Sharon ordered a piece of chocolate fudge pie. Not that she was hungry, she wasn’t, and as much as she loved sweets, she didn’t usually eat them, but she figured the entire night had been out-of-order so why not finish it out with something that would make her stomach happy.

Once the slice of chocolate goodness was staring back at her, she took a small bite, savoring the sweetness, and leaned back against the cushioned seat. She dug through her purse and pulled out the romance novel she’d started reading earlier in the week. Within minutes she was lost in the pages, just stopping long enough to sip coffee or get another mouthful of smooth chocolate.

Five chapters later, on the outer limits of her thoughts she heard someone talking, saying a name over and over again. Keeping her eyes on the page in front of her, she tuned in to the voice, a man’s.

Familiar.

Kyle.

“Missy or Sharon?” His voice echoed in her head.

She closed her eyes, forcing her lids to block her sight, she told herself it was not happening. Kyle was not standing a foot away from her table. He was not giving her that damn crooked smile that made her heart do crazy things under her chest walls—flutters and flips she couldn’t control. She heard movement, heard someone slide into the seat across from her. She released the breath she’d been holding. Continuing to convince herself that if she didn’t see him, he wasn’t really there, she lifted the book directly in front of her face and opened her eyes to the black print that no longer looked like formed words but jumbled letters scattered across the page.

Her plate scooted across the table. The fork clinked against the cheap white glass on which her half-eaten slice of pie sat. She gnawed on the inside of her lip. Was he seriously eating her pie?

“What are you doing here in the middle of the night?” he asked.

She flinched at his voice and turned a page as if she could make sense of the printed words.

“Does Vic know you’re here?” he asked, lightly tapping the fork against the plate.

Sharon lowered the book, laying it on the table, and met his eyes. In the light of the diner the blue in them was more intense than what she recalled. And they were smoldering and sexy as hell, and the way they watched her made the inside of her thighs quake. She took a deep breath, fighting the urge to literally crawl across the top of the table and straddle him where he sat. She wanted to tell him the truth about her and Vic—that it was nothing but a fabrication he’d made up to save his pride because the real Missy was busy getting pounded by Stone Larson—but she figured it wasn’t her cover to blow, so instead she said, “Vic doesn’t control me.”

                                                                                            ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Will an unexpected encounter leave Sharon's heart hijacked?
When Sharon Blake meets Kyle Phillips her first instinct is to simply seek the pleasure she's certain he can give her. But surprisingly, she feels a strong connection with him, something she's never experienced before, and that conflicts with everything she's always believed—sex is sex and nothing more.
The last woman Kyle trusted with his heart betrayed him, and he has no interest in getting involved with anyone. There's only one problem—now that he's met Sharon, he craves her touch, her laughter, the look in her eyes when he pulls her near.
Kyle and Sharon soon realize that being apart isn't an option. Someone else, though, has different plans for Kyle, and Sharon is left questioning everything he's told her. Kyle tries to explain, to make things right again, but Sharon doesn't know if she can trust him, and her instinct is to walk away now before her heart is bruised even further.
Peeling off her clothes, Jessica stepped into the warm torrents of water and tilted her head back until her hair was soaked. She closed her eyes and leaned against the tiled wall, forgetting for a moment where she was and letting the shower lull her into a kind of stupor. Slowly, the tension in her exhausted muscles began to ease. The water ran from her shoulders, over her breasts, and down her belly in hot little streams, whose miniature currents twisted and turned from the texture of her skin.
She must have fallen asleep, at least for a minute, because when the bathroom door opened, she didn't hear it.
"Hey."
She jumped and nearly hit her head on the showerhead. Fitz stood outside the frosted door, holding a towel and averting his gaze.
"Oh my God," she panted, trying to cover her chest and other unmentionables.
"I knocked. You didn't answer," he said matter-of-factly. "Here's your towel." Setting it down on the counter, he didn't make any move to leave. Instead, he stood there, head down, large shoulders hunched, his hand resting on the white terry cloth fabric.
She stayed absolutely still, the water pouring over her body and pooling at her feet before disappearing down the drain. Her heart quickened as she took him in. But not for all the logical reasons it should have. She should have been panicking. After all, she was completely naked. Completely exposed. And he was a deviant. A low life. He kept company with thugs. But it was as if something in her brain had clicked off. All she could wrap her thoughts around at that very moment was how he had looked standing over Albert. And how he'd felt when she'd curled into him afterward.
"Do you think you can hold on for just a few more hours?" he said, his voice so low she could barely hear it. "I'm going to get you out of here. But you have to trust me."
She stared at the side of his face, unable to make out his exact expression, but sure it was serious. Hard.
Trust him. Two little words, but how complicated they were. How intricate.
She didn't know how, or why, or even when she'd started to change over the last twenty-four hours, but of one thing she was certain—she already did trust him. Completely. God help her.
She opened her mouth to answer, the water streaming down her face, her saturated hair just barely touching her shoulders.
He turned to her, his movements deliberate and measured. Her pulse thumped in her neck, her body heating in areas it shouldn't have. The tops of her breasts swelled over her arm which attempted to cover them, and she was aware of every single inch of exposed skin that he'd be able to see, even through the cloudy glass of the shower door. Still, she didn't move, the words that she wanted to say thick and catching in her throat.
Condensation dripped down the glass, creating jagged lines of clarity where there weren't any before. She could tell his eyes were moving over her. He didn't bother hiding it. They took her in, from her ankles, up the curve of her legs, over her hips, and toward her dripping chest. The knowledge sent a thrill through her. She was painfully self-conscious by nature; never in her life had she stood naked in front of a man. And certainly not one like this, a brooding, dangerous stranger. Yet she could feel the incredibly erotic, feminine power she had over him, simply by standing in one spot and staring right back. It was enough to make her body tremble in places she didn't even know she had.
Just when she couldn't stand the tension one second longer, just when she thought she might actually open the shower door and pull him in with her, he turned away.
"I'll take that as a yes," he said, and walked out the door.
